Expanding access to advanced spine care during World Spine Day
Riverside, Calif. — In recognition of World Spine Day, California Advanced Surgical Specialists is expanding access to advanced spine and neurosurgical care with the addition of Lee-Onn Chieng, MD,
Dr. Chieng joins Dr. Nikhil Sahasrabudhe and Dr. Clifford Douglas, providing comprehensive care for patients with conditions affecting the brain, spine, spinal cord and nerves. Dr. Chieng, a neurosurgeon with specialized training in minimally invasive and endoscopic spine surgery, enhances the team’s capabilities in treating complex and degenerative spine conditions while providing patients with access to advanced surgical techniques.
“The addition of Dr. Chieng reflects our continued commitment to bringing world-class specialists and advanced care to the Inland Empire region,” said Mike Hoyt, chief executive officer of Riverside Community Hospital. “Dr. Chieng’s expertise in minimally invasive and endoscopic spine surgery complements the exceptional care already being provided by both Dr. Sashasrabudhe and Dr. Douglas. Together, this team strengthens our ability to provide patients with comprehensive neurosurgical care and more options for treating complex spine conditions close to home.”
World Spine Day, recognized annually on October 16, brings attention to spinal health and the impact spine conditions have on mobility, independence and quality of life. For patients experiencing persistent back or neck pain, weakness, numbness, difficulty walking or other symptoms related to pressure on the spinal cord or nerves, specialized evaluation can help determine the underlying cause and appropriate course of treatment.
“Spine conditions can affect nearly every aspect of a person’s life, from their ability to work and stay active to performing everyday activities,” said Dr. Chieng. “My goal is to understand what is causing a patient’s symptoms and identify the proper treatment approach that best fits their individual condition and goals. Surgery isn’t always the answer, but when it is appropriate, my training and expertise in minimally invasive and endoscopic techniques allow me to treat conditions while minimizing disruption to the patient.”
Dr. Chieng’s clinical interests include minimally invasive and endoscopic spine surgery, spinal deformity, degenerative spine conditions, spinal fusion and complex spine surgery. He also evaluates patients whose symptoms persist despite pain management and other conservative interventions and who may benefit from surgical treatment.
Dr. Chieng is now accepting patients at California Advanced Surgical Specialists located at 4510 Brockton Ave., Suite 175, Riverside, CA 92501. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call (951) 786-5550.
